Yesterday was an exciting day for us at Rock Hard Studios (www.rock-hard-studios.co.uk)
Much as we hate to let anyone down, we had to tell two bands that they couldn't have the night they wanted, and this is with us now having two rooms open.
So we now have two bands in on a monday, tuesday wednesday and thursday, and also bands over the weekend.
Living the Dream!!
Also, we've bought some studio monitors (http://www.krksys.com/index2.php?cat=products&page=v8_series2) which are being delivered tomorrow, and the control room is nearly finished ready to house them.
So, recording is now only a few weeks away :-)

new walls being built! and GUITARS for sale
Well,
Things are moving on a-pace at Rock Hard Studios (www.rock-hard-studios.co.uk).
We have mounted the sign above the door, which looks ACE (no more pizza delivery people getting lost). Also, the walls for the control room are being built as we speak, which is very exciting because once that room is built we'll have the core of what we wanted in the unit!
We have also taken delivery of the first of our stock to sell :-) We have several electric guitars, accoustic guitars and basses. We have also got the smaller things to sell - plecs, strings and kazoos etc :-)
We still haven't managed to open room 3 yet, because Mark is still on holiday so there's no way the door is going to get hung.. hopefully he'll be back this weekend though, and once that door is on (and the other one is finished) we'll have two fully functioning rooms, because i'll finish painting them tonight...
we're also advertising on www.blackpoolbands.co.uk a bit more (check it out, if you want info on bands they're the best) and we had Exile Films down on Wednesday to interview us, and film the studio for their documentary about Blackpool Music.

Rock Hard Live and Leaping Cat Records to tie up for better music!
Breaking news!!!!
:-)
Rock Hard Live (www.rock-hard-live.co.uk) are tying up with Leaping Cat Records (www.leapingcatrecords.co.uk) to co-promote gigs throughout the UK.
This will give unsigned bands a chance to play with one of the bands signed to Leaping Cat Records, one of the best Independent Music Label currenlty ploughing their own furrow to provide the best music, ignored by the majors.
This follows on from our successful appearance at the Blackpool Opera House.

CUSTOMERS (and paying ones at that!)
Well, after the mad rush to get the rooms ready for Personal Sacrifice, in the end they had to postpone to friday night (which was lucky) so the big day of "first paying customer" went to the HEEL last night.
So that is it, it's official, we are open!
To book in yourselves, get onto our website (www.rhmg.co.uk -- www.rock-hard-studios.co.uk) or visit our myspace account (www.myspace.com/rockhardrecordsuk) and let us know your requirements.
Watch this space for a photo-sharing site site (? :p) with pictures of our gigs, and the new rooms etc etc.

4am, and only just in.....
that's what happens when you put a strict deadline on yourselves, and then find that you actually have to work hard to achieve it!
10am tomorrow morning the carpets are being fitted in rooms 3 and 4, up the stairs and into the chill out room. So this evening we did all the studding and rock walling and plasterboarding in room 3, swept and cleaned both rooms 3 and 4, and the stairs and chill out room, and got electrics completed into room 4 (thanks Dave the Cunt!)
The reason for this flurry of activity is that we made an executive decision to open on wednesday, and then Personal Sacrifice went and booked in on Wednesday night which means we couldn't just say "we're opening" and then use the time to finish things off....
having said that, they weren't the first band to book in - Magwitch have that honour, booking 3-7 on sunday :-) living the dream!! it's actually happening!!
we also got the sofas for the chill out room into the unit, with a filing cabinet for tidying stuff into , and also the PA and equipment for the room on Wednesday night (well, we'll be trying it out with Beer Tricks tomorrow evening, gotta make sure it works!)
Chris was there all afternoon, and between him and Dan, they opened up the storage above the toilets, we now have "Dan's bridge" which is a massively overengineered bit of new flooring above the stairs - it kicks arse!!
and, last but by no means least, mr Michael Watson helped us get a HUUUGE 40" (at least) plasma TV for the chill out room, which means that the N64 and Playstation (and anything else we put through it) will look awesome!! thanks michael.
So, the studio (www.rock-hard-studios.co.uk) will be open in 30 hours or so, which is just amazing!!!
i'm off to bed, gotta be back at the unit in 5 hours :-S

Will you get some f*cking MANNERS!
I'll tell y'all about the title to this blog in a bit...
but to the news - we got the first three coats of paint in room 4, loads of the electrics done (cheers sparky dave) and all the plaster board up in both room 4 and the chill out room. Room 3 has it's floor down and the basic electric ring in for the plugs..
so, the other day we're sitting having some fish and chips and dan belches like the disgusting animal he is so i said "will you get some fucking manners" and dave laughed so much he now says it to everyone, all the time. So, you heard it here first.
some more breaking news, Pink Hearse (http://www.myspace.com/itspinkhearse) have a new bassist, my buddy Lauren (www.myspace.com/lil_mizz_vampire)... well done girl!! i'm sure you're going to be ace.
the gig last night with oscars park was a bit of a bust, because rob couldn't hear his in-ear-monitors and thought i was turning it down - it was more to do with wax in his ears i'm sure, but hey.. life goes on.
rock hard studios (www.rock-hard-studios) will be open next week and we'll be taking bookings from tomorrow.. here's to being full from the first day we open ace!!!
so for now...
will you just get some FUCKING manners!!!

Fibre Glass is nasty :-)
Hey there, just a quick update for posterity of what happened last night at the studio..
..well i say last night, but it was all day as I took the day off from my full time job to devote to getting this studio built!
Amongst other things, we finished batoning (sp?) Room 4, and studded Room 3, and I put fibre glass rock wool type stuff up throughout Room 4. We also booked the carpets in to be fitted on Monday (nothing like pressure to encourage you to work hard!) and Dave the Sparky (lighting dood for Oscars Park (http://www.oscarspark.co.uk) and generally all round punk geezer) came and wired up Room 4, with all that safety type stuff like smoke detectors and emergency lighting and everything.
We spent lots of money too.. it seems to be a constant thing that, spending money hehe.
So, we're on track to open next week, not this weekend, but that's not such a bad thing, and we're going to have the carpet fitted professionally - amen!! finally, something we don't have to learn how to do...
Talking of Oscars Park, we have to have a night off building tonight cos I'm doing the sound for them, while Dan is at Riffs (http://www.riffslive.co.uk/) for the regular thursday slot. The Wheeljacks are playing, who we like a lot :-).. big up guys!!!
Well, that's the update for today.. as I type this shackled to my desk at NST (i love it really :D) Mr Dan and Mr Chris are slaving away at the studio getting walls done and painting and stuff - or at least they'd better be hehe.
